Lufthansalla 14.1% enemmän liikennettä tämän vuoden syyskussa viimevuoteen verrattuna.

15.10.2004 alkaen Lufthansa aikoo myös nostaa lippujensa hintoja öljyn hinnannousun takia.

Lufthansa carried 14.1 percent more traffic in September than a year earlier, boosted by demand on routes to the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region, the carrier said on Monday.

The number of passengers carried increased 15.8 percent to 4.84 million, while the passenger load factor was up 0.3 percentage points to 77.6 percent.

European airline traffic has been recovering this year from a prolonged economic downturn as well as from the effects of the Iraq war and the SARS outbreak in 2003.

Lufthansa said traffic totalled 9.62 billion revenue-passenger kilometres.

The amount of freight and post carried rose 14.3 percent to 151,000 tonnes. The overall load factor, which includes passengers and cargo, was 0.5 percentage points higher in September than a year earlier at 72.1 percent.

Rival Air France-KLM said on Thursday passenger traffic rose 6.9 percent in September, driven by strong demand on trans-Atlantic routes. Its load factor rose 1.5 percentage points to 79.5 percent.

British Airways said on Tuesday it had a 3.6 percent increase in traffic last month, though lucrative first- and business-class traffic dipped 0.2 percent. The load factor rose 2.2 points to 77.9 percent.

Lufthansa has said it is increasing its fuel-related surcharge on ticket prices from October 15 to offset record crude oil prices. The company said last week it is sticking to its full year operating result forecast of EUR300 million (USD$371.7 million).

No johan ne rupesi syyskuun alusta ottamaan sen "Servicegebühr" (mikä h:tin Service?) joka on kai 30 EUR Euroopan lennoilla (samalla matkatoimistojen provisio poistettiin, joten nekin joutuvat ottamaan lipun myynnistä rahnaa...).

Joo, jostain se on kai käärittävä lisähillot uusiin investointeihin jne...

Ihan mielenkiintoisia uutuuksia on kyllä tulossa lentämiseen lähiaikoina:

- FlyNet - eli internet yhteys lennon aikana. Toimii jo nyt muutamilla "long haul" lennoilla (http://cms.lufthansa.com/fly/de/en/inf/0,4976,0-0-1144059,00.html), ja vuoden kuluttua kaikilla pitkillä lennoilla.

- Kännykät toimimaan kaikissa Airbus 320 koneissa keväällä 2006?

- Superjumbojen hankinnat, eli Airbussin A380! Tätä odotan jo itsekin innolla. Milloinkohan Lufthansa saa ensimmäisen superjumbonsa? Kevät-talvella 2006 luovutetaan ensimmäiset superjumbot Singapore Airlinesille, eli menisköhän aikaisintaan kesään/syksyyn 2006?

Mä olen käymässä kaiffarin häissä suomessa 4.11-7.11 ja tuossa jo kiittelin etten vbirdin ikuisuuspitkää lentoa bookannut. Nyt sitten bookkasin paivää sitten finskiltä, 180e edestakainen lento (happyhour).

LÄhtö to 18:20 (tms, perillä 22:10) ja paluu su 16:15 (perillä 18:30)

En sanoisi hirvittäväksi hinnaksi, vai?

Germany's Lufthansa posts profit

German airline Lufthansa said it made a 125 million euro ($A212.71 million) net profit in the third quarter, more than making up losses from a year ago as stronger demand for air travel and freight transport helped it stay ahead of rising oil prices.

The positive result compared to a loss of 17 million euro ($A28.93 million) in the July-September period last year.

"In the third quarter the demand for aviation services recovered further, especially in the intercontinental segment," the company said.

"Lufthansa's airlines profited from this."

Air traffic revenue increased by 10 per cent to 3.442 billion euro ($A5.86 billion), while overall revenues at Lufthansa, which also has maintenance, tourism and catering businesses, rose 5 per cent to 4.469 billion euro ($A7.6 billion). The company includes the Lufthansa CityLine and Air Dolomiti regional carriers.

In addition, the airline benefited from its hedging strategy to defend against higher oil prices, saying it had saved the company some 159 million euro ($A270.57 million) in the first nine months of the year.

AdvertisementOver that period, the company said, its fuel bill rose 30 per cent to 1.3 billion euro ($A2.21 billion) - although 15 per cent of the increase came from flying more to meet increased demand.

CEO Wolfgang Mayrhuber said the positive result still wasn't enough, adding that the company needed to grow earnings more and cut costs in talks with its workers.

"Our current numbers should not hide the fact that we need clearly better operating earnings, in order to secure the future of the enterprise for the next generation," Mayrhuber said in a statement.

Operating earnings, which exclude financial items such as interest and taxes, rose to 218 million euro ($A370.97 million) from 200 million euro ($A340.34 million) in the same quarter a year ago.

Still, the company said that intense competition and overcapacity were still hurting passenger yields.

For the first nine months of the year, the company made a net profit of 164 million euro ($A279.08 million), compared with a loss of 409 million euro ($A695.99 million) in the same period a year ago. Revenues increased by 7.7 per cent to 12.7 billion euro ($A21.61 billion).

...Kun ottaa 30 euroa lisää kun varaa liput internetin kautta.

Tämän lisäksi SAS ei anna LH lennoista enää 1200 mailia vaan 350 mailia... Että tuli taas tehtyä virhe kun luotin sweduihin ja liityin SAS EuroBonukseen. EuroBogus. Hurrit pettävät aina...

Itse asiassa ihan oikeestikin, ainakin ilmeisimmin, sillä lukemani perusteella 60% Ruotsin avioliitoista rätsähtää pix-pox-poikki.
Ruotsalaisstatiivi ei kertonut onko tämä 60% per vuosi, jolloin 10 vuoden jälkeen vain promillen tuhannesosa avioliitoista olisi enään voimassa, vain onko kyseessä kumulatiivinen odotusarvo/todennäköisyys avioliiton kuolemalle.

Joka tapauksessa SAS sucks - ne alkoi kaksi viikkoa sitten vielä veloittaa 5e siitä kuivasta pesusienestä jota sämpyläksi kutsuvat... No way. Onneksi Tuhokolmion kentällä on Dinersin köyhyysloukku (lounge) josta vielä saa sämpylän, suolakurkun ja meetwurstin ihan ilman maksuakin.

DC:n loukussa on muutoin vähemmän väkeä Tuhokolmiossa kuin StarAlliance Gold / BizClass loukussa. Safkat tosin tietty heikommat.

Noniin, huomenna n. klo 09:00 A380 superjumbo laskeutuu Frankfurttiin ja viettää siellä vuorokauden testaten gateja ja kiitoratoja.
